Baby’s body found in Kenbridge

The shocking discovery of an infant’s body in Kenbridge Thursday, led to the arrest of a 17-year-old girl who admitted placing the ‘still-born’ child in a plastic bag before disposing of the body in a brush-filled lot.

Despite feeling as though she is ‘letting down’ her supporters, Supervisor Jane Atkinson announced last week that she is ‘tired of the spite, deception and mud-slinging’ that she believed would only get worse as Election Day draws near.

In a press release to The K-V Dispatch, Atkinson said that she had agonized over the decision for weeks and finally decided to officially not seek re-lection to the board of supervisors’ Plymouth District seat. ]]>

With just one month remaining before the third annual Kenbridge Wild Game, Stew and BBQ Cook-Off, organizers have begun the final countdown towards the big Memorial Day weekend event!

The Cook-Off event originate two years ago as a precursor to the town’s 2008 Centennial, with local resident Steve Israel and his ‘Wild Bunch’ of volunteers leading development efforts.

But the truth is, gang activity has spread throughout the United States – including to small rural communities like those found in Lunenburg County.]]> frontpage Sat, 02 May 2009 00:32:21 +0000 Horticulture highlights May Community Night Programs http://www.kvdispatch.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=88:horticulture-highlights-may-community-night-programs&catid=1:latest-news The Lunenburg County School System will continue its Community Night Programs during the month of May with Technology, Spanish, Horticulture and walking.

The programs take place Tuesday nights, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Lunenburg Middle School. While walking sessions will continue through the spring and summer months, yoga classes have been postponed until the fall.
New horticulture classes began in April, and organizers hope more local ‘gardeners’ will join in and polish their green thumbs with new ideas and tips to spruce up their yards.

Upcoming horticulture classes will include such things as Vegetable Gardening - Site and Species Selection and Soil Preparation on May 12, and Common Vegetable Diseases - Steps for Prevention and Treatment on May 26. Other specific class categories will be announced at a future date.

Horticulture classes take place on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.

Beginner Spanish programs will be offered through Rosetta Stone on the computers. There will computer assistance available, and the program is extremely ‘user friendly.’

Additionally, we can train a new green jobs workforce in energy efficiency technology," said Perriello.
